Voc Rehab Case Management Services for Injured Workers within BWC

Case Management Services are the main part of vocational rehabilitation in the state of Ohio.  A case manager meets with injured workers, their physicians and sometimes their attorneys to create, coordinate and implement a vocational rehabilitation program.

“The right service at the right time with the right professional is critical to success.  Vocational rehabilitation is so much more than job search- it is a collaborative effort to achieve job readiness.  It is the Vocational Rehabilitation Case Manager who pulls it all together.”  Pat Hulec

IVS Voc Rehab Case Managers often do many of the following functions:
+    Integrate past work experience, education, physical limitations and psychological reports
+    Understand and write transferable skill analysis reports.  A TSA can determine what skills an injured worker used in another job and how those skills can transfer into a new and different work environment
+    Evaluate an injured worker's ability to participate in a voc rehab program
+    Develop, write and implement vocational rehabilitation plans and reports
+    Communicate effectively with the injured worker
+    Monitor the injured worker's progress through the voc rehab plan
+    Estimate costs of services
+    Negotiate approval from the MCO (Managed Care Organization), DMC (Disability Management Coordinator) and the injured worker
+    Understand Ohio BWC Policy Chapter 4 Guidelines
+    Communicate effectively with the injured worker's attorney and physician of record
+    Follow the Return to Work Hierarchy as established by the Ohio BWC

These responsibilities require skill, organization, advanced education and deep compassion for helping those hurt at work who need to find employment.  Our team of case management providers are personally vested in the success of each injured worker they help.  It is often challenging to manage these roles and responsibilities, but we feel strongly this can be done while advocating for the injured worker.
